Aerospike pricing model: Community free, Enterprise by quote, Cloud by consumption
Community Edition includes the core Aerospike database engine with full access to Hybrid Memory Architecture, the Smart Client, in-memory and SSD storage namespaces, secondary index support, user-defined functions via Lua, and standard replication within a single cluster. It does not include cross-datacenter replication (XDR), which is required for active-active or active-passive multi-region topologies.
It also excludes strong consistency mode, rack awareness topology awareness, encryption at rest and in transit, LDAP or Active Directory authentication, audit logging, and any Aerospike support SLA. For a team running Aerospike in a single datacenter with in-house operational expertise and no regulatory encryption requirement, Community Edition covers the full core capability.
Enterprise Edition adds every feature that matters to production-grade, regulated, or multi-region deployments. Cross-datacenter replication synchronizes data across clusters in different datacenters or cloud regions, enabling both active-passive disaster recovery and active-active geographic distribution. Strong consistency mode replaces eventual consistency with ACID guarantees at the record level for workloads that cannot tolerate stale reads.
Rack awareness prevents replica co-location within the same physical rack, reducing the blast radius of hardware failures. Encryption at rest and in transit satisfies PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, and equivalent frameworks. Aerospike does not publish node-count or storage-tier pricing; the quote is customized based on cluster scale, storage configuration, and contract terms. Teams evaluating Enterprise should scope the deployment fully (node count, per-node RAM, SSD capacity per node, number of datacenters) before the first vendor conversation.
Aerospike Cloud shifts the commercial model from capital-and-staffing to pure consumption. The managed service handles cluster provisioning, auto-scaling, zero-downtime upgrades, cross-datacenter topology, monitoring, and backup. Teams pay for compute resources, storage consumed, and data transfer.
The advantage is operational simplicity: no infrastructure team needed to run Aerospike at production scale. The tradeoff is higher per-unit cost compared to self-managed Enterprise at equivalent scale, and vendor lock-in to the managed configuration. Aerospike Cloud is the fastest path to a production-grade deployment for teams without Aerospike operational expertise.
Community Edition: Free (open-source, Apache 2.0) (Self-managed; no SLA support; excludes XDR, strong consistency, rack awareness, encryption at rest, LDAP, and audit logging. Source on GitHub.)
Enterprise Edition: Quote-required subscription (Includes all Enterprise features: cross-datacenter replication (XDR), strong consistency mode, rack awareness, encryption at rest and in transit, LDAP/Active Directory authentication, role-based access control, audit logging, rolling upgrades with zero downtime, and 24/7 Aerospike support. Priced per node and storage tier.)
Aerospike Cloud (managed): Consumption-based (compute + storage + transfer) (Fully managed on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Aerospike handles infrastructure, patching, scaling, and backups. Billing reflects actual consumption. Free trial credits available at sign-up.)
